I've been playing and writing for a few years-I'm currently independently recording my first EP, which is due at the end of the summer! Special thanks goes to Patty D for wearing short shorts, Joel for helping me record, and to my family for tolerating my sailor's mouth every time the computer crashed. To make my video, I recorded my vocals on my laptop, lip-synched to them, and then edited the film. Over the last month I filmed for six hours, recorded for one, and edited for about seven. It was a labor of love! I had so much fun. Ever since a friend played 'Lost in Space' in my car a few years ago, Aimee Mann has been the part of the soundtrack to my life. At first glance, Josh Ritter's Artists Den performance might have taken place in his native Idaho, against a landscape of rolling green hills and grazing bison. The enormous animals behind the band were, however, stuffed: the show's venue was actually in the North American Mammal Hall of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, in the spirit of Ritter's new album, The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter (Sony BMG/Victor). Surrounded by grizzly bears and wolves, hundreds of die-hard fans packed the diorama-filled hall as Ritter delivered a full-on rock concert -- complete with a 5-piece horn section -- that kept the room dancing all night.

Amadou & Mariam Ft. Manu Chao - Sénégal Fast Food (HQ)
Amadou and Mariam are a musical duo from Mali, composed of the couple Mariam Doumbia (vocals) (born in Mali's capital Bamako 15 April 1958) and Amadou Bagayoko (guitar and vocals) (born in Bamako 24 October 1954). The pair, known as "the blind couple from Mali" met at Mali's Institute for the Young Blind, and found they shared an interest in music.
The duo produces music that mixes traditional Mali sound with rock guitars, Syrian violins, Cuban trumpets, Egyptian ney, Colombian trombones, Indian tablas and Dogon percussion. All these elements put together have been referred to as "Afro-blues".
Between 1974 and 1980, Amadou played with Les Ambassadeurs du Hotel and in 1980 the couple got married and began to play together as well as Amadou continuing with a successful solo career and running the blind institute's music programme.
By 1985 the couple had made a name for themselves playing Malian blues and they embarked on a tour of Burkina Faso and in 1986 the couple moved to the Côte d'Ivoire and recorded several cassette albums and eventually the album Sou Ni Tile in Paris, which became a hit in France and started playing at festivals around the world.
In 2003 they were approached by world/Latin music star Manu Chao, who then produced their 2004 album Dimanche à Bamako (Sunday in Bamako), which also features his distinct vocal.
In 2006 they recorded, together with Herbert Grönemeyer, the official anthem for the 2006 FIFA World Cup "Celebrate The Day" (German: "Zeit, dass sich was dreht"). The song topped the German charts in June 2006.
In 2007 they supported Scissor Sisters at the MEN on 30th July. In summer of 2008, they will play the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago, Illinois and the Latitude Festival in Henham Park, Suffolk.
