20MinTrip Pt2: Palm Springs Joshua Tree Salton Sea

20 minute trip through Coachella Valley, California

In part 2 (this video), we start at Box Canyon Road (very scenic), go through Mecca, see the Salton Sea, then drive back to Palm Springs at sunset. Sleep overnight at the Desert Rivera Hotel, watch the sun rise, take an early monring swim, pan across the San Jacinto Mountain Range.

In Part 1 (see other video), we leave Orange County by freeways 5, 55, 91, and 10. Those freeways are kind of boring, but we get past them quickly. Taking hwy 111, we enter Palm Springs and cruise down Palm Canyon Drive (the main drag). We then hop back onto the 10 freeway, headed east to Joshua Tree. We only drive in about 8 miles, then turn back and take (watch Part 2) Box Canyon Road towards Mecca and the Salton Sea.

Sadly, this YouTube video doesn't do the original HD format video justice (but, hey, it's free, so that's nice of YT). It's still nice to watch the beautiful California desert at sunset. Try watching the "high quality" version on YouTube.
