George Carney has owned the Brockton Fair, one of the premier summer agricultural fair in Massachusetts, for more than 50 years. Recently his daughter Maura Carney has handled the logistical tasks of running the show.
With Reithoffer Shows providing the midway rides for the past 30 years, and with other local fairs closing, Carney has seen crowds grow year after year.
This year, in an effort to capture business from people who want to stay close to home because of the cost of gasoline and the poor economic conditions, Carney has added more nights with fireworks, additional rides, kept ticket prices in line and added and more one price days.
